Research Pursuits
The spin-1/2 quantum XXZ chain is one of the most fundamental models in integrable quantum spin chains. Let us put Δ=(q+1/q)/2. When q is a primitive Nth root of unity, then the XXZ Hamiltonian commutes with the sl(2) loop algebra.
We have shown that every regular Bethe vector in the Sz=0 (mod N) is a highest weight vector of the sl(2) loop algebra.
In a dilute solution of ring polymers, we have investigated the diffusion constant of a ring polymer of a given knot K. We have found that the ratio of the diffusion constant of a linear polymer to that of a knotted ring polymer is approximately constant with repsect to the number of monomers.
Educational Pursuits
Two senior undergradutate students studied independent researches, respectively. One student studied basic techniques of computational programs so that she can perform simulation studies of polymer physics. Another student read an introductory textbook on elliptic functions where their applications in mchanics are discussed.
